    Welcome back! 

    Your Yacht Club is just opening back up after a short closure Annual Closure.

    This is a Single Friday Evening Event prior to rolling into the later part of Summer.   This is also a good opportunity to practice for the Back to School Regatta

    The Summer is coming to an end, with school right around the corner, let us go out enjoy the wonderful waters of Teague Bay and the St. Croix Yacht Club.

    Optimist Team


    The Optimist Team class is for novice to intermediate level Optimist Sailors. This class refines and builds upon basic rigging and sailing skills which are important for the competitive and leisure sailor alike. 

    Sailors should have previously taken the Opti Beginner course or be able to demonstrate an equivalent experience level. Sailors should be able to handle the Opti on their own safely, capsize & recover, be able to rig, launch, tack/jibe, and sail upwind. Sailors additionally should be able to demonstrate adequate swimming ability in swimming short distances and treading water while wearing a PFD.

    This course runs 3 times a week for 7 weeks.

    Schedule:

    Tuesday: 4:00pm - 6:30pm

    Thursday: 4:00pm - 6:30pm

    Saturday: 9:00am - 12:00pm


    October 10th and 11th:  NO CLASS

    Scholarships Available 

    Equipment:


    -PFDs (lifejackets) are required, sailors who do not have their own may borrow a PFD from the Sailing Program.

    -Sun protective clothing & sunscreen are strongly recommended

    -A refillable water bottle (there is a water fill station in the club for refills).


    Other optional equipment:

    -Hat, sunglasses, water shoes, sailing gloves.

    This class is recommended for ages 8 and older. (exceptions are made for sailing experience)

    SCYC Race Team

    The St. Croix Yacht Club Race Team will be for St. Croix Yacht Club Sailors over the age of 15.  If you are 14 year old, 120lbs and taller than 5ft you are welcomed as well.  This team will focus on various boats from, ISCA, ILCA, Club 420's, Rhodes 19 and even larger Keelboats.

    All sailors will be encouraged to sail every position of each boat, and the team will focus on certain class boats for which upcoming important Regattas

    -Jr. Sailors must weigh at least 100 pounds and over 5 ft tall to safely sail in the Club 420 class and Rhodes 19

    -Jr. Sailors must weigh at least 120 pounds and over 5ft tall to safely sail in the ILCA and ISCA

    To be a Crew, No, sailing experience necessary, we will train you! 

    If interested in Skippering, you should know how to sail.

    Sundays: 1:00pm - 5:00pm

    Members: $150.00

    Non-Members $250.00

    Some days will not be sailed due to Regatta Schedules, Holidays or other events that may present themselves.
