Optimist Green Fleet
Spring Session 1 begins Saturday Feb 22nd

The Opti Green Fleet class is for novice to intermediate level Optimist Sailors. The term "Green Fleet" is used primarily in the context competitive sailing, however this class refines and builds upon basic skills which are important for the competitive and leisure sailor alike. Sailors typically stay in the Green Fleet class for multiple sessions while their competitive skillset increases.

Sailors should have previously taken the Opti Beginner course or be able to demonstrate an equivalent experience level. Sailors should be able to handle the Opti on their own safely, capsize & recover, be able to rig, launch, tack/jibe, and sail upwind. Sailors additionally should be able to demonstrate adequate swimming ability in swimming short distances and treading water while wearing a PFD.

If you are uncertain if your sailor meets the prerequisites for the Opti Green Fleet class please reach out to the Sailing Program at Waterfront@StCroixYC.com

This course runs twice weekly for 6 weeks.
Wednesdays 4:00 - 6:00
Saturdays 9:00 - 12:00

PFDs (lifejackets) are required, sailors who do not have their own may borrow a PFD from the Sailing Program.
